Abstract

Mowing your lawn can be strenuous using a typical mowing machine due to the size and it’s rather difficult to handle by users. The grass growing under the wooden trays cannot be cut off by users because of the difficult and narrow places. Many users experience back pain as a result of them bending their bodies when they need to cut the grass in such places. Grass machines are unable to cut grass at inaccessible places because of its large size. Grass grows longer because users cannot cut it. A typical lawn mowing machine now is very difficult to handle. Besides, the lawn mowing machine is dangerous for children. The cost is expensive. It is hard to store. Since the use of typical mowing machine can be burdening to most users, there should be a machine that is able to perform the same function but in an efficient and convenient way. We created a mini portable mowing machine which has 3 razors and this enables the machine to cut the grass at narrow places. It is obviously safer for users to use the machine as it is mini in size and lighter. We used Arduino Maker UNO as the mainboard and other electronic components for the machine’s body. We gave instructions to the machine using mBlock programming software. We used Bluetooth RC Controller application installed in smartphone to operate the machine. The Bluetooth connection is used to connect the app and the machine. It functions as the remote control. This allows us to move the machine in all directions and to turn on the razors. The machine is powered by rechargeable battery. Benefits of our product are small in size, light–weight, eco-friendly, time-saving & economical, convenient, safe for users, have a led as a signal or warning, portable, able to reach difficult/ inaccessible areas, climate friendly: can be controlled inside the house at any time and rechargeable. Our target market are farmers, household users, mower, companies and gardeners. We conducted some interviews with gardeners and some random target customers, we found that 10 out of 12 of our potential target customers mentioned that our product was easily usable and convenient.
