TEACHING KIDS ABOUT RECITATION OF DAILY DU’A AND ZIKIR IN DAILY LIFE USING VIDEO GAME

Abstract
Using game in learning are beginning to take place in today education environment. Due to the nature of the video which is engaging to the user make it perfect instrument to be used in education sector. Many learning subjects already utilized the game elements as a part of teaching method. The same cannot be said about Islamic religious teaching as the game about the subject seems scarce. The problem with Islamic teaching in school is that many students have low knowledge on the subject and the subject are not very engaging if being teached in normal school environment. As a result, this project has developed Belajar Doa dan Zikir Harian game. The objective of this project is to create a simulation game to teach students about recitation of du’a and zikir in daily life. By building and developing this game with the goal of assisting teachers in teaching Islamic studies, students may be able to have a better understanding of this issue. This program may also be used as an extra learning tool to assist students in their Islamic studies. The game was developed by using GDLC Model framework as its base. The model was selected due to its structure which fits well into the nature of this project. The testing and evaluation of the game were carried out using Game Engagement Questionnaire to evaluate student’s engagement when playing the game. Following the testing with the target users, it was discovered that the developed game is capable of engaging students in some way because most of the participants answer positively from the questionnaire. The game's future work shows that it still has room for improvement, such as developing more tasks and improve the storyline.
